The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) and members of the Kidney Health Initiative's Patient and Family Partnership Council (KHI PFPC) met with leaders from across the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
including Secretary Alex Azar on Wednesday, May 16 to show their support for KidneyX.
Members of the KHI PFPC were able to share their personal stories with kidney diseases and how they believed patients could support KidneyX with HHS Secretary Alex Azar and key HHS leaders from FDA, NIH, and CMS.
The patient's voice is crucial in the success of KidneyX and the development of innovative therapies that are meaningful and effective in the eyes of the patients that will use them. Innovators participating in KidneyX
will be encouraged to collaborate with patients and their care partners while developing solutions.
KidneyX's pilot round of prize funding, Redesign Dialysis Phase I, focused on accelerating the commercialization of and patient access to next-generation dialysis products.
